Hello Queen! For those that don’t know you, can you tell us who you are and what you do?

Hello my angels! For those who don’t know me, my name is Shamaya! I am a model, content creator on Instagram (@shambizzle) and Tiktok (@shambizzle_), a DJ and I am a recent graduate of UWA with a double major of Political Science, International Relations and French Studies.

What's your sign baby?

I am a Scorpio Sun, Aries Moon and Aries Rising and Scorpio Venus. An astrological mix of a consistently hectic, strong and fun baddie if you ask me! 

Smart, beautiful, strong, sexy, creative, empowered, down to earth and humble…the list could go on forever. We are so proud of you, watching your growth over the years and seeing you continuously reach milestones is such a highlight for us! Have you always been so driven and motivated and what is currently inspiring you to keep kicking goals? 

Aww you ladies are too good to me! I feel so lucky to have had the privilege of being able to work with MM from such an early stage in my modelling career! Your support has honestly given me so much confidence within myself to keep pushing myself in the modelling industry. I think I used to have quite a pessimistic and nihilistic view on life, I’ve definitely found it hard to stay driven and motivated at times, but when I meet people that run such successful brands such as yourselves that believe in me, it's definitely a reality check for me to believe in myself too, which is huge motivation to stay driven! Throughout the years, my view on life has transformed into more of an optimistic nihilistic outlook on life - which means that although I am able to acknowledge how small and insignificant we are as humans on earth, in such a huge universe, it's so important to remember that stressing out about things we can’t control, simply isn’t worth it because they’re actually much more insignificant than what they seem! Life is too short for us to not pursue what we dream of because before you know it, we may have missed all the opportunities to do the things we wanted, all because we were too busy stressing out about things that don’t really matter!

With so much success and spotlight on you and your profile right now, how do you stay grounded and keep so damn humble?

Well first of all thank you! I think it’s definitely a mixture of two things, the first being that I practice gratitude every day. I’ve learnt that once you start to be grateful from the smallest things in life that we’d usually take for granted (e.g our sense of smell), life becomes a lot more rewarding and enjoyable! And secondly, the other thing that keeps me humble, are the people that I surround myself with. I must say I love my friends very deeply because I know for a fact that they are so supportive about everything I pursue, and hype me up on the regular, but they’re also extremely honest with me, about things that I do that maybe aren’t so great, which I think is so important! I love knowing that the people closest to me love me enough to say things to my face, rather than behind my back because I function that way with my friends and loved ones too! That to me, is true love and friendship, which very rare so I’m extremely grateful for all my close friends in my life!

One of the things we love about you is how you always stand up for what you believe in, you aren’t afraid to voice your opinion and use your platform for good. How important is this to you and what do you wish you were seeing more of on the social landscape?

I appreciate that! I believe that its actually an integral part of my character to unapologetically express what I believe in, especially about social justice issues that I am passionate about. Whether it’s online or in real life, I don’t think I would be doing the world any justice if I chose not to use my platform to share issues close to my heart. In my opinion, spreading awareness about important issues will hopefully keep the momentum going to create positive change so that the world can be a better and safer place for all. 

Best advice from your mama?

Whenever I’m down about something that someone has said about me, my mum always says “don’t own it!”, I love this! She’s taught me that when people have something mean to say about you, it’s saying a lot more about them than it does about you! I live by this now, and here’s a tip that my mum has also taught me: when people say something bad about you, its actually a good way to find out what they are most insecure about in themselves…! 

Apart from blessed genetics, dish the morning routine & skin secrets so we can be as glowing & flawless as you please!

Hahaha well I’m far from flawless but I do take my morning routine very seriously so buckle up :

Each morning I wake up, meditate, pray, reflect in my journal, practice gratitude, manifest, and then I do my skincare routine:

1. Sukin foaming wash
2. Mere Ionic Dermal Corrective Tonic
3. Vit C serum
4. Hydrating serum (around dry spots of face i.e. under nose, etc,)
5. Apply a generous amount of SPF 50 to face and neck!
6. Make up (optional)

Then I usually make myself a nourishing breakfast - either an Açai bowl with chocolate buckini or Avo toast (the same way North Street Store does it - with goats cheese, cucumber, chilli and coriander and Sriracha on sour dough bread!). I then finally feel prepared and aligned mentally, physically and spiritually to enjoy and go about my day as my best self!

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now where would you go?

My boyfriend and I really want to do a big Japan trip as soon as the travel restrictions allow us to! We’ve been watching a bunch of Studio Ghibli anime films, and from what I know about Japanese culture so far, I’m so enticed and interested to be immersed in it as soon as possible! Nintendo World recently opened up over there too so we’re super keen to see that, and to be surrounded by an endless amount of udon and mochi! - how can we go wrong?

We believe in manifesting... Any 2021 goals or dreams you want to say out loud?

It’s been so crazy and humbling to see how many of my manifestations for 2021 have already come to fruition for me, from becoming a Miss Universe Australia Finalist for 2021, to getting signed with my dream agency and playing my first few couple of DJ gigs with my best friend! I am so grateful for all of these experiences already. Some further manifestations I still have yet to reach in 2021, include having my first in-store campaign and perhaps moving over East some time soon!

No, thank you for creating such incredibly unique designs of jewellery of such high quality! The world is a much more vibrant and beautiful place with MM jewels in them! My personal favourite styles of MM earrings would definitely have to be the Cleos, the Pricillas, the Leeras, and of the MM necklaces, the Tijana and the Rachael! Honestly, its hard to pick favourites because each MM design is so iconic in itself, and every time I am blessed enough to wear MM, I feel like such a Queen!
